Melbourne Museum

Melbourne Museum, Victoria

The modernist Melbourne Museum is the largest museum complex in the Southern Hemisphere. Spread over three levels, the museum draws on the latest technology to give an insight into Australia's flora, fauna and culture.

Nature in the digital world

Learn how digital technology, biodiversity and geology have changed our perceptions of the natural world in the Science and Life Gallery, or step into a living interpretation of Victoria's tall temperate forests which features around 8000 plants from more than 120 different species.

Something for everyone
Visit the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, a living cultural centre for the Koori community of south-eastern Australia, see Australia's most famous race horse, Phar lap, and take the kids to the Big Box – a fun and stimulating environment for children from three to eight years old.

Big screen dreams
Adjoining the museum is IMAX Theatre, which boasts the world's largest movie screen – eight levels high and featuring state-of-the-art visual technology, along with surround sound.
